We are at war against an invisible enemy

Many authorities claim the world has had 3 World Wars: WW1, WW2, and WW3 was the Cold War. Covid-19 may not be a war of armies and guns but it is an army of doctors and nurses fighting against an unseen but powerful enemy.

This is our generation’s World War

“Coronavirus doesn’t look at your passport, doesn’t look at your nationality, doesn’t look at your circumstances, whether you’re rich or poor, doesn’t care whether you’re within one metre of somebody sneezing, or whether a droplet of infection will hit you.” – Health Minister Mkhize 12 March 2020

The impact of this invisible enemy will be great. That is why governments around the world are reacting with such strong and drastic measures to stop the virus.

“Without decisive action, hundreds of thousands of people could catch the disease. We have a large number of people with immune system illnesses, and millions who live in poverty. Therefore, we have decided to enforce a 21-day lockdown from Thursday 26 March to Thursday 16th April” – President Ramaphosa 23 March 2020

As Christians we know that, “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places…” (Ephesians 6:12) and 2 Corinthians 10:4.

There are 4 levels that we are being attacked in:
our emotions, our bodies, our finances and our faith in God.

We must remember that God has an answer to all these attacks!
His plan is greater and wiser than any human government.
This is the time to pray!

God is declaring to us, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

The power of our agreement will change the nature of this war.
With God’s help we will see this virus defeated. We are a nation of medical breakthroughs and we are praying for our medical research teams and our doctors and nurses to receive divine revelation into how to combat this virus!

We as the Church will be the answer!

We, as the church of Jesus Christ, are not a building.
1 Peter 2:5 says that “we are living stones being built up into spiritual house.” We are a spiritual household that can worship God and hear His Word wherever we are. Due to the National Lockdown, we will not have services in our buildings but the church is not closed!

We will be holding our services online for GHCC@home.
Please gather those in your household together to worship
with us together online.

Sundays 9am & 5:30pm

Tuesdays – Fridays 12pm: Communion & Prayer

Wednesdays 7:30pm

You are part of God’s plan of salvation for people in this season as much as any other. We are called to be people who declare healing and wisdom that comes from the Word of God.
We are the salt and light of the world! Please take time during this lockdown to check if your neighbors and family need prayer, encouragement, food or medical help. We are in this together!

The Bible declares in 2 Corinthians that “God loves a cheerful giver,” for no gift given to God is unrewarded – it is a seed, and it always returns to us. God did not give Jesus without expectation. He sowed Jesus as a seed, in order to reap a harvest – a family – you and I. Therefore, we also should give… with EXPECTATION.

This season has many challenges, but we know that God is a rewarder to those who give!

Your giving allows us to reach the City of Cape Town with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through our various campuses, helps us to support missionaries, and support our children at our educare in Khayelitsha.

We as pastors and staff at Good Hope Christian Centre are here for you. We continue to pray for you and the world to be free from this virus and all its effects. Our hearts desire is that this will be a year of Double Blessing for us all. We are praying these verses over you and your family; Numbers 6: 24-26 and Psalm 91:5-7.
