Hidden Miracles

Midnight is an unexpected hour. This is the time when most of the world is winding down, possibly even sleeping.

Spiritually midnight represents when you are at your darkest. You feel alone, discouraged, stuck in your situation with no solution…. maybe even abandoned.

It’s at midnight when you are ready to give up hope.

It’s also at midnight when you can experience your greatest miracle!

In Acts 16, Paul and Timothy are travelling and preaching the good news. Paul has a dream and the Lord shows him a man crying out for help in Macedonia. Imagine seeing someone in your dreams, crying out for your help. Paul heard the cry and the team prepared for Macedonia the next day.

While on their way, they stop in Philippi and being the Sabbath, they were looking for a place to worship. They found a group of women there and began to speak with them.

“Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.”

So she persuaded us.” Acts 16:14-15

This woman, Lydia, comes to the Lord, she gets born of the spirit and gets baptized.

You see, the bible tells us to repent and be baptized. It doesn’t just say “come to Jesus”. it says “be baptized”.

Being baptized refers to being immersed, to be covered in fluid, whether in water or in the spirit. It means to be overwhelmed by the presence of the Lord washing away what is surrounding you. Not sprinkled with what is around you. Be overwhelmed by the presence of the Lord in the midnight hour.

If Paul had not listened to the message God was giving him in the dream, he never would have met Lydia that day. We don’t know if she would have heard the good news of Jesus and had her life and the lives of her family changed for eternity. And because of his obedience, not only did he get to experience the miracle of salvation in sharing the gospel, but Lydia began to support the ministry and God blessed Paul and his team.

When you are obedient to the call of God on your life and go where He has called you to go, not only will you experience His blessing, but you’ll experience Him flowing through you. He will use you to touch people bringing hope and healing and changing lives for eternity, fulfilling the great commission that Jesus has given has given us all, to make disciples and baptise them.

So now it’s up to you. Maybe God has been speaking to you about speaking to someone about His Son Jesus. This is your time.

Maybe you are in the midnight hour right now and are crying out for help. God led you to this blog for a reason today. Today is your day for a midnight miracle!

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20
