When The World Is Against You

Ever feel like you are in a situation where you are completely outnumbered? You can find yourself in the middle of a dispute at work, a disagreement with your friends or maybe you’re a single parent and the kids are ganging up on you!

It’s the same spiritually. When you are walking out your walk of faith alone or you don’t have people of like-minded faith around you, it can be draining. You weren’t meant to live this life alone! The Bible tells us in Matthew 18:19 that if any two of us agree on anything, it shall be done. This is one of the many examples where God tells us not to stand alone, but actively build community with like believers with the promise that our faith will be strengthened!

It is important to build an established hope; where we take control of our own lives and surround ourselves with a community who set themselves in agreement.

Agreement is really important. You can agree as a husband and wife or you can agree with another believer, but you need someone who agrees. A person who is an agreer is someone who harmonises with you. As the scripture tells us, when two or more people agree, then they are at place of harmony.

That’s the definition of fake news.

Matthew 18 goes on to say in verse 20 that where two or three are gathered in my name, I am in the midst of them.

God takes great pleasure in the gathering of His people. He Himself lives in the middle of their gathering. What a beautiful thing to know that when you get together for a prayer meeting, share testimonies or even just talk about what God has been talking to you about, that His presence comes into the place. Not for any other reason than to join the gathering.

Getting together with like-minded Christians in the name of the Lord is a weapon against the enemy. When you gather together in the presence of God, Satan has to flee. All those thoughts, ideas and attitudes that plague you cannot live in the presence of God.

There is established criteria in the Word of God that remains eternally based on principles found in the Lord God.

This is so important especially in today’s climate. We are told to isolate, stay away from others in fear of contracting a sickness. Why this sickness, why now? That’s for another discussion, but we as the children of God have been given a mandate to gather, to pray, to encourage, to worship and when we come together, He enters the room with His peace, joy, healing and hope that will minister to us and set us free.

So I leave you with this encouragement written in the book of Hebrews. Do not take for granted the gathering of the saints, but encourage one another even more so as the day Christ returns comes near.

“not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25
